How to play
Every day you get three mystery players. Each one is described only by the honors on their résumé — an MVP season, a Finals MVP, a Rookie of the Year award, a place in the Hall of Fame. Start with one clue and pick from four names. A wrong guess crosses that name out and reveals another clue. You have up to three guesses per player.
Scoring rewards confidence: three points for a correct answer on the first clue, two on the second, one on the third. Your share grid shows 🟧 for a first-clue answer, 🟨 for a later one and ⬛ for a miss.
About the clues
The clues come from our records of the NBA's major season awards — MVP, Finals MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year and Most Improved Player — the ABA and WNBA MVP awards, and membership in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The other three names are always players from the same league and a similar era, so you can't rely on guessing who was even in the league at the time.
