About Hoops Journey

Last updated: October 12, 2026

Hoops Journey is an independent project about the history of American basketball. It tells that history in three ways: stories that slow down and explain the moments people still argue about, a history section with champions, award winners and Hall of Fame members, and games that let you test what you know.

What we cover

• The NBA, from the 1946 Basketball Association of America to today
• The ABA (1967–1976) and its merger with the NBA
• The WNBA, from 1997 to today
• NCAA men's and women's college basketball
• Team USA at the Olympics and the World Cup
• The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame

International players appear through their careers in American leagues. European leagues and other national teams are outside our scope.

Independent by design

We are not affiliated with any league, team, school, governing body or player. We do not use league or team logos. Names appear only to identify who and what we are writing about. Read more in our disclaimer and in how we make content.

Sister projects

Hoops Journey belongs to the same family as World Football Journey, which tells the story of football through tournament history, club stories and games.
